February Theme Prompt Winner

Editors' Choice

Adrift by Randall Andrews is the editor's pick as the winning theme story for February/March.

Last month's theme prompt, On This Special Day, ended on March 15, with the final accepted entry published on April 3rd. Despite the abundance of special Spring days from which to choose, we only had six accepted theme stories last month. Randall's certainly stands out.

It's a story about fathers and sons and the gifts that are passed between generations. "Adrift" reminds us that any day might become special, whether it's on a far-flung expedition or in your own back yard.

Next Month's Theme Prompt

The next theme prompt, Othering AI was announced in March and will end at midnight on April 17. Check it out, and send us your best flash sci-fi story before the AI apocalypse makes us all irrelevant. Or gives us all an extended vacation.

To allow sufficient time to publish all the accepted theme stories before announcing the editors' choice, we ask you to please complete any necessary revisions within one week of receiving editorial comments.

If you are a subscriber to our site, you can click on that little rocket icon

at the end of a story (up to five times) to express your appreciation to the author. Each month, we award a cash prize to the story that has the most rocket blasts.

That's right, you can read each of these amazing stories, plus a new one every weekday, for less than the cost of a Martian mantawraith. All you have to do is,
