"Engines of Opportunity", by Jeff Currier! Congratulations! And what does he win, Johnny?
NOT a case of Turtle Wax (Who would wax a turtle?!) or a year's supply of Rice-a-Roni, the San Francisco treat. Not even a copy of our Home Game. No, Mr. Currier has won the respect, admiration, and envy of his peers, plus a hundred dollars with which to do as he wishes. (Yes, even if he wants to wax a turtle.)
We have an unusual occurrence this month: a four-way tie for second place. That's something that only very rarely happens. These gain the title of Honorable Mention, which is nothing to sneeze at. The stories are:
Time Piece, by yours truly, J. Millard Simpson
Still Me, With Cameron Diaz's Face, by newcomer Cale Beauchamp
Blue Skies Loading, by the talented and clever Anne Wilkins
The Boy With the Lungs of a Lion, by the clever and talented J. Cabral-Jackson
Congratulations, and well done!
Remember: This award belongs to the story with the most Rockets, as awarded by you, our faithful subscribers. You decide which among us gets the prize by your individual choices. It's a rare tale indeed that isn't worth even a single Rocket, I've found, but even rarer is that which gains the maximum accolade -- five.
Voting is secret, but I can tell you that more than one story this month received that honor.
