Robert Walton is a retired middle school teacher, classical musician, rock climber and mountaineer with ascents in Yosemite and Pinnacles National Park. An experienced writer, his Civil War novel Dawn Drums won the 2014 New Mexico Book Awards Tony Hillerman Prize for best fiction. His most recent book is Joaquin’s Gold, a collection of award-winning tales about bandit Joaquin Murietta. His story Suka Blat was published in “Alternative Truths”, a 2025 anthology of protest literature.
